Travel conditions

Things you need to know when booking a trip with us

Travel conditions

Askeladden Reiser/Rolf Lie’s terms are based on the norwegian “Lov om pakkereiser” of 25 August 1995 and the “Alminnelige vilkår for pakkereiser” which on the 1st of october 1997 where adopted in collaboration between the Norwegian “Den Norske Reisebransjeforening” and “Forbrukerombudet”. We reserve the right to make any changes to the terms.

Registration and payment
Registration can be done by phone, email or post. The registration is binding when the customer has confirmed participation orally, by email or in writing. Failure to pay the deposit invoice is not considered a cancellation. This must be done by writing or orally. The deposit is deducted on the main invoice, when the main invoice has been paid, this applies as a participant certificate. The customer must always check that the travel documents and invoices received apply to the correct trip, date and place of boarding, so that this matches the order. If errors are detected, Askeladden must be contacted immediately.

Passport / visa – the Schengen agreements
It is important to have a valid passport on all trips outside Norway, even if a passport is not required in countries associated with the Schengen agreement. Your passport is the only valid identification. Childrens must also now have their own passport. Askeladden refers customers with a foreign passport to investigate the visa requirement at their respective country’s embassy.

Travel and cancellation insurance
Everyone should have travel insurance when traveling. Therefore, contact your insurance company to take out such an insurance. This insurance is for loss/damage to luggage and coverage of medical expenses and possible repatriation in the event of an accident/illness. Also bring a European Health Insurance Card. This is ordered at your local NAV office or online. The European Health Insurance Card documents that you have the right to be reimbursed for expenses for necessary medical treatment when you stay temporarily in another EEA country or Switzerland. You have the right to get treatment on the same terms as the citizens of the country of residence. This does not replace travel insurance.

Cancellation insurance should be taken out when booking. This insurance covers the financial loss that occurs when one is prevented from making the journey due to acute illness, accidental injury or death, either with the insured, his only travel companion, or in the insured’s immediate family (resident in an EEA country). Cancellation must be made as soon as it is clear that the trip cannot be made and there must be a medical certificate or other confirmation of what has occurred. Check with your insurance company if you have cancellation insurance included in the travel insurance.

Cancellation
If canceled within 42 days before departure, an administration fee of NOK 500 per person will be paid. If canceled between 42 – 30 days before departure, an amount corresponding to the deposit on the trip will be paid. If canceled 29 – 15 days before departure, up to 50% of the tour price may be charged. If canceled 14 – 0 days before departure, no refund will be given.

Price change
Prices include the benefits mentioned for each trip. The basis for our prices are exchange rates, price and tax level at the time of production. We reserve the right to change prices if unexpected adjustments should occur, but this can not be done later than 20 days before departure. If the price increases by more than 10%, the traveler can cancel the trip free of charge. This presupposes that the customer within seven days after notification of price increases has been received at his address, informs Askeladden that they wish to make use of the right of cancellation.

Cancellation of a trip
A trip can be canceled by Askeladden if:

  • A sufficient number of participants has not been registered. Cancellation must be made no later than 14 days before departure.
  • There are conditions that Askeladden is not in control of (Force Majeure). For example: danger of war, natural disasters, labor disputes, epidemics, etc.
  • Conditions on the destination or itinerary that make it risky or unreasonable to complete the trip.

Any complaints/disputes
If the traveler means he has a reason to complain about the implementation of the trip, the matter must be raised immediately with our tour guide/driver, who will try to rectify the matter. Complaints that require treatment after returning home must be reported in writing no later than 14 days after the end of the trip. If the parties do not agree, the case can be appealed to the “Reklamasjons-nemnda for Selskapsreiser”, no later than 4 weeks after the final answer from Askeladden is available. Askeladden reserves the right to make any printing errors, and of any changes in prices, exchange rates, conditions, taxes and fees that may arise.
