Eight spectacular watergates with a total of 18 water chambers lift the boat and passengers 72 meters from the starting point in Skien to the end of the sewer, in Dalen. We will take the boat from Ulefoss to Lunde.
When the “Telemarkskanalen” was completed in 1892, it became a connected waterway from the coast to the heart of Telemark. It stretches 105 km from Grenland’s beautiful coast, to the foot of the Hardangervidda. The canal connected towns and villages together and opened Telemark to the world.
Today, the Telemark Canal is a major tourist attraction and the old boats take you back in time through a varied and beautiful landscape.
