Introduction
Join Askeladden on a wonderful trip to Stavanger with a visit to the lush island known as Flor og Fjære. Here you will find plants and trees you did not think could grow in Norway. We have had many happy guests here and the trip can definitely be recommended!

The trip goes via Notodden and the new tunnel to Seljord and on to the beautiful Dalen Hotel for lunch.

At the end is our goal, the Stavanger wooden village and we get a taste of this together with a local guide.

The big highlight of the trip is Flor & Fjære. We get a tour of what three generations’ passion for creating the world’s most beautiful garden has resulted in. To top it all off, we are served a delicious fresh buffet with inspiration from all around the world.

On the way home we drive over beautiful Jæren to Sogndalstrand, a settlement in Sokndal which is one of the seven protected cultural environments in Norway. Afterwards we have lunch at Sogndalstrand Kulturhotell. We will also see the Jøssingfjord known from the Altmark case, a British military action on Norwegian soil less than two months before the German occupation of Norway. We will spend the night in Flekkefjord at the Maritim hotell.

On the way home there will be a stop in Kristiansand and in Arendal for lunch before the trip goes home along Sørlandske.

Tour program

Day 1Monday 9. august

After the departure from Hadeland and Hønefoss, the trip goes via Kongsberg and Notodden with a short leg stretch along the way. We drive the new tunnel to Seljord and we will have lunch on the historic Dalen Hotel. We continue the journey across Suleskaret towards Stavanger and arrive at our hotel, Thon Hotel Stavanger where we also have dinner.

Day 2Tuesday 10. august - Stavanger

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we will get to know the city we live in better. The day starts with an exciting
round trip and together with a local guide we drive around some of the districts. We must also see the place where
Norway was united into one kingdom, Hafrsfjord. Furthermore, we visit the viewpoint Ullandhaug, before we finish by walking through parts of old Stavanger. Today’s lunch will be on your own hand.
In the afternoon we walk the small distance down to the beach where the MS Rygerfjord takes us out to the island South-Hidle and Flor og Fjære.
Here we find subtropical palm trees and lush flowers framed by magnificent fjords and mountains. First
there will be a tour of the garden, then a delicious buffet dinner with, among other things, the famous Hidlefjord
fish soup, dessert and coffee. It will be time to stroll around a bit on your own before we take the boat back to
the mainland.

Day 3Wednesday 11. august

The next morning we leave Stavanger, and set our course for Jæren with a visit at Sogndalstrand, here we meet our local guide.
At Sogndalstrand Kulturhotell, delicious fish soup with bread is served, which ends with coffee and dessert at 12.30.
Sogndalstrand is idyllically located along the mouth of the salmon river Sokna, and towards the open sea and was protected by the National Heritage Board in 2005. Today you will find, among other things, cultural hotels, cafes, galleries, golf courses and outdoor amphitheaters here. Sogndalstrand is a quiet and cozy place that just has to be experienced.
We will also see Jøssingfjord which is known from the Altmark affair, the first act of war on Norwegian soil during World War II. In the heart of Jøssingfjord are two houses below the Helleren. This is an old settlement from the Stone Age. The houses are from the 19th century. Then we travel to the Maritim Hotell in Flekkefjord for dinner and accommodation.

Day 4Thursday 12. august

The departure from the hotel is at 09:00 right after breakfast. We drive to Kristiansand where we visit the harbor area and set aside some time on our own to visit the city. Then we drive on to Arendal where we will have lunch. Then the road goes home along Sørlandske main road with a coffee stop along the way (not included).
