Introduction

Welcome back in 2021!

Into 2021 with the same Peer Gynt!

In the summer of 2019, Pål Christian Eggen impressed a lot with his interpretation of the title role. We are so lucky to again, get to see this star in 2021. – Pål Christian as a talent is embracing very broadly. He combines seriousness and humor in a way that only few others can, says artistic director Ellen Horn about the choice. Eggen enchanted both the audience and critics like Peer Gynt, on the verge of perfect “dølamål” – the local dialect Peer would have spoken in real life. He himself has roots in the Gålå area, and has almost grown up in the neighboring village.

Thrilled critics and audiences

Artistic director Ellen Horn does not get full praise for Pål Christian’s role interpretation and proudly pulls up “Gudbrandsdølen Dagningen” (GD) with the review of the performance. – It still stands as my best front page, says Pål Christian. GD was not alone in the good review, and all reviewers highlighted Pål Christian Eggen’s fantastic role interpretation.

Henrik Ibsen’s “Peer Gynt”, written in 1867, is considered a masterpiece in literature, both in Norway and abroad. The play entertains and challenges readers and theater visitors all over the world.

During the Peer Gynt convention, Henrik Ibsen’s “Peer Gynt” is played at Gålå in Gudbrandsdalen, in August every year. “Teaterarenaen” is a spectacular outdoor theater / amphitheater that is idyllically located by the “Gålåvatnet” between forest and mountains in Gudbrandsdalen. This is the only stage in the world where Peer Gynt is played every single year.

Over 450,000 guests have experienced the theater since its inception in 1989.
