Askeladden Reiser is a travel company that was started in 1990 by the current owner Rolf Lie. Rolf started as a tour bus driver at “Th. Liens Turbusser” in Hokksund in 1974 and during some summer seasons large parts of Europe were visited. His interest in bus and tourism grew rapidly and he wanted to start his own company. Thus the first minibus was purchased in 1990, a used Chevrolet van with 10 seats. Since then, Askeladden Reiser has slowly but surely grown bigger and bigger and today we have 13 buses, a shuttle bus to the airport, and trips to various destinations around the world.
Many years ago, Asbjørnsen and Moe met for the first time at Norderhov Prestegård. This resulted in a lifelong collaboration in collecting Norwegian folk tales. One of the most famous characters in the fairy tales they wrote is called Askeladden. Askeladden has become a symbol of what a person can achieve with helpfulness, courage, patience, creativity and the ability to utilize the best in their helpers. This inspired Rolf Lie and that´s where the name Askeladden Reiser (travels) came from.
With over 40 years of experience in tour bus and tourism, Rolf Lie has for the past 28 years built up Askeladden Reiser with tour production, 9 buses and an airport express to Gardermoen.
We make trips for groups on order by plane and bus in Norway and the rest of Europe. This year we will make approx. 25 trips for individual guests to most countries in Europe. With us on the team, we also have experienced tour guides who know the destinations very well. In addition, we sell trips with Hurtigruten, Color Line, DFDS, Stena Line and Fjord Line, as well as SAS, Widerøe, Norwegian and more.
Today, the company has 9 modern tour buses, all Mercedes, ranging in size from 16 to 55 seats.
From 2004 we have also operated an airport express between Ringerike, Hadeland and Gardermoen. It has 8 daily departures on weekdays, 2 on Saturdays and 4 on Sundays. The airport express drives between Sundvollen and the airport at Gardermoen.
We are a member of the norwegian Travel Guarantee Fund.
